Daily Devotional | Stop Looking Back

Sometimes it’s hard not to look back at the things in life that tore us down or hindered us on our journey.  We seem to have a tendency to look back at the painful and hurtful things that have happened to us. We seem to habitually look back at the wrong decisions we made.  But today God is saying it is time to stop looking back.  It’s only hindering us, stopping us or slowing us down.  God wants us to let it go.

For some of us there have been bad relationships that God has brought us out of and the devil with his sneaky self, will try to come along and remind us of a few good moments to try to get us to return, to try to make us think it wasn’t that bad.  He wants us to keep looking back, until he tricks us into going back.  But God does not want us to even consider it.  He brought us out for a reason-The relationship was going to destroy our souls.  This is why we need to look to God because the devil will fool us if we are keeping our eyes on the past.  He will make us forget all the trauma we went through and lead us back into a hellish relationship.  God wants us to stop looking back on it.

There are some who has been abused physically, mentally and emotionally.  Every day we think about it, every day we battle the thoughts of what happened to us, but God will take away the pain when we chose to look to him instead of looking at what happened.

God does not count what happened in your past as a light thing.  Everything that happened to you he cares about it.  Your pain, your hurt, your scars… he cares about it all.  He has a plan to heal you and make you whole in every area of your life if you would stop looking back and look to him.

If you may bad decisions, wrong moves or maybe you just let time slip away don’t focused on what you wished you would have done.  You can not change your past but you can change the direction that your life is going in.  It does not matter how bad you messed up, God is in your life now and he will see to it that you are on the right path.

You belong to God and he will help you overcome the battles in your mind and all of the pains, hurts and regrets of your past.  He knows what you are facing but he knows you can accomplish all when you trust him and keep your eyes on him.
