“Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.” Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.” The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. Matthew 8:6-10.
I think this passage of scripture is so powerful, I love it! The centurion knew that only one thing was needed in order for his servant to be healed, and that was for Jesus to speak a word. He knew if he could just get Jesus to speak a word, things would change. There are times when we may feel like, if I could just get my child or my spouse to come to church to hear the word, maybe they would change. This passage shows us that regardless of where they are at, the word can find them. Wherever they may be, the word can work through the atmosphere, the hemisphere and any other type of spheres, speak to their heart and bring about a change in their lives. We may have loved ones who are out in the streets, or living in wrong types of situations and we are desiring so badly that they would change the way they are living. Sometimes we talk and talk with them until it starts to feel hopeless that change will come. God wants us to remember that his word is powerful and it will not return unto him void. So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it Isaiah 55:11. The LIV version says “it shall produce fruit” It didn’t say “it may” or “it might”, it said “it shall”. There may be times, that we just need to cease from the talking and instead begin to speak God’s word over them.
In the book of Ezekiel 37 chapter, God told Ezekiel to speak to the dry bones. Ezekiel began to speak God’s word over the dry bones and what happened? Life began to come back to them. So what is this telling us? We are to speak God’s word, His promises over those situations that seems dried up or dead in our lives. We have to stand on his promises. We have to speak his word and release it into the atmosphere. God tell us in his word:
God’s word is saying “I will do it.” We have to believe him, we have to trust him. I know that with so much happening around us that sometimes this can seem hard to do, especially if we are more focused on the situation than on God’s promise. However, God’s word is powerful and it is still able to change things. His word can find our loved ones, speak to their heart and turn their lives one hundred percent around. God is able to do it! We have to remember that there is nothing to hard for God. Just like the case with the centurion, the same applies to you and I.
Anything and everything that concerns you, Jesus has already spoken a word to it, it’s now up to you and I to stand upon his word and speak what Jesus spoke over our loved ones, over ourselves, over our enemies and over anything that concerns you. There is still power in the promises of God and he has granted us authority to speak his words over anything affecting us. When we speak his word, we need to expect results because God said his words WILL NOT return to him void. It is going to accomplish what he sent it out to accomplish and by that he is saying to EXPECT TO SEE A CHANGE!
Heavenly Father I pray that on today your word will begin to produce results that we can visibly see. I pray your word would find loved ones, remove the blinders from their eyes and speak the truth into their hearts. I pray that by the power of your word, change will begin to take place and that we will see the results of your word working. Help us God to believe in the power in your word. Give us confidence to stand upon it. Whenever trouble comes help us to hide ourselves in your word. God we thank you for what you have already done and for what we are about to see. Your word changing things. Your word fixing things, your word healing our bodies and our mind. God we declare that there is POWER in your word and we will not stray from it. In Jesus name, amen.
