When Jesus Speaks, Things Happen.

When Jesus Speaks!

You can best believe that when Jesus speaks, something is going to happen. You might receive revelation, truth, instructions, correction, discipline or feel the magnitude of his love for you. The question that follows this is when Jesus speaks, what will your response be.

“Lord,” he said, “my servant lies at home paralyzed and in terrible suffering.”  Jesus said to him, “I will go and heal him.”  The centurion replied, “Lord, I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. But just say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and that one, ‘Come,’ and he comes. I say to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.”  When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, “Truly I tell you, I have not found anyone in Israel with such great faith. Matthew 8:6-10.

I think this passage of scripture is so powerful, I love it! The centurion knew that only one thing was needed in order for his servant to be healed, and that was for Jesus to speak a word.

He knew if he could just get Jesus to speak a word, his servant would be made whole.

There are times when we may think, if I could just get my child or my spouse to come to church to hear the word, maybe they would change.  This passage shows us that regardless of where they are, the word can find them.

Wherever they may be, the word can work through the atmosphere, the hemisphere and any other type of spheres, speak to their heart and bring about a change in their lives.

When Jesus speaksWe may have loved ones who are out in the streets or living in wrong types of situations and we are desiring so badly that they would change the way they are living. Sometimes we talk and talk with them until it starts to feel hopeless that change will come.

The Power of The Word of God

God wants us to remember that his word is powerful and it will not return unto him void. This is what happens when Jesus speaks:

So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it Isaiah 55:11.

The LIV version says “it shall produce fruit” It didn’t say “it may” or “it might”, it said, “it shall“. There may be times, that we just need to cease from the talking and instead begin to speak God’s word over them.

In the book of Ezekiel 37 chapter, God told Ezekiel to speak to the dry bones. Ezekiel began to speak God’s word over the dry bones and what happened?

Life began to come back to them.  So what is this telling us?

God wants you to speak his word and His promises over those situations that seem dried up or dead in your life.

Stand on what he has promised.

Proclaim his word and release it into the atmosphere.

God tells us in his word:

God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Numbers 23:19

God’s word is saying “I will do it.”

We have to believe him, we have to trust him.

I know that with so much happening around us that sometimes this canWhen Jesus speaks seem hard to do, especially if we are more focused on the situation than on God’s promise.  However, God’s word is powerful and it is still able to change things.

There Is NOTHING To Hard For God!

His word can find our loved ones, speak to their heart and turn their lives one hundred percent around. God is able to do it!  We have to remember that there is nothing too hard for God.  Just like the case with the centurion, the same applies to you and me.

Anything and everything that concerns you, Jesus has already spoken a word to it.

It’s now up to you and me to stand upon his word and speak what Jesus spoke over our loved ones, over ourselves, over our enemies and over anything that concerns you.

There is still power in the promises of God and he has granted us authority to speak his words over anything affecting us.

Scriptures on Spiritual Authority

When Jesus Speaks a change takes place. The same power that was in his words are STILL in his words and he have given you and I authority to use his words.

  • Behold, I have given you authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall hurt you. Luke 10:19
  • And he called the twelve together and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, Luke 9:1
  •  I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19
  • “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.  Deuteronomy 28:7

When Jesus speaksWhen we Confess the word, we need to expect to see results because God said his words WILL NOT return to him void. It is going to accomplish what he sent it out to accomplish and by that, he is saying EXPECT TO SEE A CHANGE!

A Prayer For Change

Heavenly Father I pray that on today your word will begin to produce results that we can visibly see.

I pray your word would find loved ones, remove the blinders from their eyes and speak the truth into their hearts.

I pray that by the power of your word, the change will begin to take place and that we will see the results of your word working. Help us, God, to believe in the power in your word. Give us the confidence to stand upon it.

Whenever trouble comes help us to hide in your word.

God, we thank you for what you have already done and for what we are about to see. Your word changing things. Your word fixing things, your word healing our bodies and our mind.

God, we declare that there is POWER in your word and we expect to see results. In Jesus name, Amen.

From my heart to yours, I ask that you please share this message. I know there is someone out there who needs to read it.  Thanks in advance!

Nice post, Denise. I have always been amazed at this passage where the centurion had such great faith in just the simple word of Jesus. May we all develop such great faith!
