So Jesus, again being deeply moved within, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. Jesus said, “Remove the stone.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days.” Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?”…John 11:38-40
There have been times that I wondered, “Why is God taking so long to answer my prayer? I had prayed, fasted, made my request known to him but it seemed like nothing was happening. One day I was reading the passage in the bible about Jesus going to the burial of Lazarus. Lazarus had been in the grave for four days. I can imagine how heavy Martha and Mary’s heart must have been. They called for Jesus, with the hope that he would come heal Lazarus. I can imagine them waiting and watching. Looking back over their shoulders, to see if they saw Jesus coming. Where was he? Did he Care? Is there something wrong? Why was he taking so long?
Upon the arrival of Jesus, the only thing that stood between Jesus and the answer to Mary and Martha’s prayer was a stone-Jesus said, “Remove the stone.” Before Jesus would do any great works, before any miracles would be done, before the answer to their prayer would be manifested they first had to remove a stone. It wasn’t until the stone was removed, that the power of God reached into the tomb, picked Lazarus up and brought him out of the grave while he was still bound with wrappings. Then Jesus told them “unbind him and Let him go” John 11:44.
After reading this, I realized that sometimes the only thing that is stopping our prayers from being manifested is a stone. A stone of hate, a stone of bitterness, a stone of disobedience, a stone of unforgiveness, a stone of disbelief, fear and doubt. I had to search my heart to see what stones may be blocking my blessing. I had to pray to God to show me myself and the stones that may be hindering my answer. I felt strongly that once I too, removed the stones from my heart that the power of God would reach down, pick me up and bring me out just like he did Lazarus. I knew that God would speak to my situation and command it to “unbind my daughter and let her go!” What stones are in your life today? I’m not saying that your answer or your blessing is delayed because you have stones in your heart, However this may be one of the areas you want to examine if your answers from God seems to be delayed.
God loves you and he wants you to be blessed, he wants you to prosper, and he wants you in good health (3 John 1:2). Don’t let a stone stop you from receiving what God has for you. It’s his will to bless you. Search your heart today and cry out to God, “Lord help me to remove these stones!”, Trust God and believe, and then you too will see the glory of God in your life.
Heavenly Father, we ask that you would open our eye to ourselves. Anything that we are doing that is hindering our blessing please let us see. Give us the power and the strength to change. Help us to conform to your will and your way. We love you and we thank you, in Jesus name we pray, amen.
From my heart to yours, I ask that you please share this message. I know there is someone out there who needs to read it. Thanks in advance!
