The Favor of God: 7 Things You Should Know

The favor of God: What Does It Mean?

The favor of God is divine acceptance, approval, protection, benefits, and blessings that God bestows upon those who love him and do his will.

It means that God will supernaturally provide for you, take care of you and cause blessings to come to you. This is the Favor of God!

It DOES NOT mean you will never face challenges, heartbreaks or suffering but rather, in the midst of all of the trouble and pain that surrounds you, God will show himself faithful to protect you and help you.

The article titled “Making Sense of Suffering: states“:

” We need to be careful not to wallow in self-pity and bitterness, taking a sort of delight in blaming God for the problems.  Job’s attitude may be an inspiration: “Though He slay me, yet will I trust Him.” The one suffering will be blessed if, amid great agony and despair, he or she can look into the face of the Heavenly Father and, because of His eternal love and presence, be grateful.  Our response to suffering should be to look beyond it and see God’s higher purpose and what He wants to teach us.”

Who Does God Show Favor To?

God favors the ones who have a true genuine relationship with him.

2 Chronicles 16:9 says “For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him.”

Perfect means you have a true desire to walk in accordance with God’s will and his ways. It means you practice seeking after and doing those things that are pleasing to him. Why? Because you cherish your relationship with the Father and each day you desire more of him.

It is in your heart to please him. And when you have this desire to please him in your heart the bible says “These are the ones I look on with favor: those who are humble and contrite in spirit, and who tremble at my word.” Isaiah 66:2.

So What Does His Favor Entails: 7 Things You Should Know.

  1. The approval of the Lord upon your life; When God says “Yes” it does not matter who says “No”. Because when his favor is upon your life no man can stop you or stand in your way. God will cause doors to open that no man can close Revelations 3:8.
  2. God will increase you; God will cause everything you do to increase. Nothing is stagnant with God and nothing will be stagnant in your life. Psalm 115:14
  3. God will make your name great; You may think no one knows you or recognize you but when the blessings of God begin to flow in your life all men will notice and know who you are and whose you are. Genesis 12:2
  4. God will cause you to become a blessing to other people;God will use you to touch the lives of other people in many different ways. James 5:20
  5. God fixes the hearts of people to say “Yes” to your request and your desires; God will cause even your enemies to say “yes” to you and to help you. Proverbs 21:1
  6. God will withhold the plans of your enemies; The powers of your enemies will be rendered void, powerless and ineffective over your life. No weapon that is formed against you shall prosper. Isaiah 54:17
  7. God will empower you; The hands of the Lord will be upon you to carry out his plans for the kingdom and to live a godly life. 2 Corinthians 4:8-9

An Example of God’s Favor

Deuteronomy 28:1-13 King James Version (KJV)

1 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:

And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the Lord thy God.

Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.

Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.

Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.

Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.

The Lord shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.

The Lord shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

The Lord shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the Lord thy God, and walk in his ways.

10 And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the Lord; and they shall be afraid of thee.

11 And the Lord shall make thee plenteous in goods, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy ground, in the land which the Lord sware unto thy fathers to give thee.

12 The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow.

13 And the Lord shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the Lord thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:
