The Will Of God | 3 Things You Should Know About.

What Is The Will Of God For Your Life?

What is the will of God for my life? This is a question I often hear people ask.  When we ask about the will of God, it usually pertains to “What does God want me to do?”  or “What does God have for me?”

However, the will of God is not just about blessing and callings from the Lord.  The will of God also pertains to our conduct in difficult and challenging moments.

  • When a loved one betrays you
  • Someone does you wrong
  • Someone intentionally embarrasses you
  • Someone you thought you could trust, steals from you
  • When you feel stuck in life because you struggle with self-esteem
  • When you know there is hurt, anger and hate inside of your heart because of something someone has done.

What is God’s will concerning these things?

What is expected of your behavior?  How does God expect you to act?  What does God expect you to do?  What does he want from you?

What is his will?

The Answers To These Questions Are Found In The Word

To find the answers to what God’s will is we need to read the scriptures, but more importantly, we need a revelation of what the scriptures are saying, which is given only by God’s Holy Spirit.

A connection with God’s word and our spirit needs to be made so that in every situation or circumstance we will know how God expects us to conduct ourselves.

So to find out what God expects us to do when we have been hurt or feeling depressed we need to search the scriptures.

When Someone Angers You, What Is God’s Will?

What is God will when something or someone angers you?

Psalms 37:8 tells us:  Cease from anger, and forsake wrath: fret not yourself in any way to do evil.  In other words, the bible is telling us we are not to retaliate back because it will only lead to us doing something wrong.

As painful or hard as it may be, it is better to walk away or leave the matter alone and trust God to handle it.

Proverbs 14:17 tells us, He that is soon angry dealeth foolishly: and a man of wicked devices is hated.

When you are feeling angry, you probably could care less about how you’re making yourself look.  However, once things calm down and you look back at the way you just acted you’re going to feel like you have shamed God and shamed yourself.

This is how the devil wants you to act and this is how he wants you to feel.

You represent Jesus. It’s better to let it go and trust God to handle it.

What Does God Word Say About Taking Revenge

God’s word says:  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord (Romans 12:19).

God understands the hurt, pain, anger and everything else that you may be filling but his will concerning these things is to trust him that he will fight your battles.

What Is  God’s Will When Someone Intentionally Embarrasses You?

Painful embarrassment is usually brought on by public exposure of your past, your mistakes or your weaknesses.  Everyone now knows what you did or what happened to you.

So what do you do?

The first instinct will be to go get the person who exposed you, especially if it was someone you trusted.    How could they do that to you?  How could they betray you like that? How could they put all of your business out in the street, when they know how people talk?

How Could They Do That?

It’s a bad feeling to be betrayed.  Even worse, knowing that everyone now knows about the things that you did or about the thing that happened to you, which still causes you so much shame and pain.

You know everyone is talking.  You know that they are all laughing.  So what do you do?  What is God’s will for you, in all of this?

His Will for you is to put on:

The Armor of God-Ephesian 6:10-17

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

Know Who Your Fight Is With

Your fight is not with the person who exposed you or the people who may be laughing at you.  Your fight is with the demonic forces that are trying to stop you.  The enemy wants to hinder your faith and your growth in God.  The only way he sees to do this is by using someone who can deeply hurt you and distract you from doing God’s will.

This is why God tells us to put on the whole armor.   God is letting us know that this fight is not a game.  The enemy will destroy you if you do not armor up.  God’s will for your life is for you to be victorious in all of the hard times and challenges of life.

What is God’s Will When Dealing With Self-Esteem Issues?

What is God’s will for your life when you feel like you are not smart enough, pretty enough or good enough?

Within the body of Christ, we find that there are many Christians who suffer from low self-esteem.  When these inadequate feelings come we must challenge them by lining them up with the word of God.

Ask Yourself This Question

Ask yourself is this what the word of God say about me?

Does God Word say you are not pretty enough?  Does it say you are not smart enough?  Does it say you are no good or that you will never be anything?

Does it say that you’re going to lose and never win? Is there somewhere in the bible where it says you are nowhere as good as the next person?

What does God word say?

Because what it comes down to is this, we either choose to believe what God’s word says or we choose to believe what the Devil says.

Line Up Your Words With The Words Of God

We must line our words up with the words of God if we are going to be successful in this faith walk.  God’s word has the authority over everything else.

So it does not matter what the enemy brings to your mind but DO NOT ALLOW HIM TO USE YOUR MOUTH TO CONFESS WHAT HE IS TELLING YOU.  You have to say what God says until it takes root in your heart.

With our mouths, we say we trust God but when we speak self-doubt or self-defeat we are really saying God’s word concerning me is not true.

If what we are feeling or thinking about ourselves, does not line up with the word of God then those thoughts are lies from the devil and the only way to combat these negative thoughts is by stepping out in faith and confessing what God says over our lives.

What Are You Looking At?

We can not move forward in God the way we should when we are in the trap of looking at all of our flaws.  If we allow this, we will spend more time focusing on our inadequacies than on God.

So what is God’s will concerning these self-defeating thoughts and feeling? Hebrews 12:1 tells us, “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us”.

Let’s not let our body size, our facial features, our speech, our intelligence, our popularity or anything else become a weight in this spiritual race.

Anything that hinders us needs to be laid down.

In Every Area Of Our Lives, God Wants us Walking In His Will.

As we can see from the scriptures the will of God is not just about walking in a call such as preaching, teaching, etc.  The will of God is also not just about receiving blessings-If it’s God’s will I will get the house, job. etc.  His will applies to all areas of our life.  Our calling, our blessings and our obedience to his word.

Let’s not focus just on the callings or the blessings and forget about the obedience that God expects from us.  If we cannot be obedient to his word then how can we expect him to trust us in the call of ministry or business?  How can he expect us to be responsible with the blessings if we put obedience to his word on the back burner?

The will of God for our lives includes many great things if we will first apply his word to our lives.

Very insightful and challenging post on the will of God. You’re 100% right. The will of God is about every thing we say and do in our lives. Thank You for this Wonderful post, Denise. It will speak to the hearts of many and most importantly God will be Glorified through it as well

Knowing the will of God is really our goal and I feel like so often I forget to start in the right place. I pray and ask Him to speak, supernaturally inpart His plans to me… but so often He has already given the answer in scripture and if I were just in the word more I would know His will. Thanks for the all the verses to help us stay on track.
